System Clean-up Tools

The following steps and tools I have personally used and found really do work and really do improve performance and security. 

First of all make sure your Antivirus Software on the system has the latest updates and have scanned your system with those latest updates.  If needed, I have provided below a Panda Antivirus 2007 (30 day evaluation) download.  It will only do one update for free and will require a purchase within 30 days.  Panda also offers a webscan tool.  It is absolutely imperative to have some kind of  updated Antivirus software on a system.  Note, do not install more than one Antivirus software program on a system.  This can simply break the system.

Second load and install Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, and Spyware Blaster.  All of which I have provided their downloads below.  Then make sure to get their latest updates.  After all four programs are installed and updated, immunize with Spybot S&D and Enable all protection with Spyware Blaster. Now your ready for the third step.

Reboot the computer and go into safe mode.  To get a system in Safe mode simply press F8 during the boot up process.  This requires timing.  If you hit F8 too early you could create a keyboard error.  If you hit F8 too late then you could miss the window to get into Safe Mode and the system ends up booting normally.  Usually hitting F8 after booting up for 5 to 10 seconds will work.  This can be tricky and might require a couple of tries before you figure it out.  Once in Safe Mode run Spybot S&D and “Check for problems”.  Once finished searching for problems select all the items and “Fix Selected Problems” which removes all of the items Spybot S&D finds.  Then run Ad-Aware and click "Start" and then "Next" to perform a system scan.  Again once finished searching remove all of the items found.  That’s it, all done!  Reboot normally.  You are now clean and protected.

Finally, Continue to update and run Ad-aware, Spybot and Spyware Blaster monthly to keep your system clean.  I highly recommend buying Spyware Blaster and configure it to automatically update and immunize. Now, if you have followed these steps and you still have problems let us know.  Usually once you follow these instructions your system's speed should improve as well as performance and the browser should return to normal.  That is the pop-ups and hijacking should be gone.  If not please let us know.
